Our Mindfully Empowered program supports organizations in learning mindfulness-based tools and practices which have been shown to maximize the ability to work efficiently, engage in meaningful collaboration and problem solving, as well as reduce stress, anxiety and burnout. This results in greater productivity, emotional well-being and an overall positive work environment.

Research continues to show that mindfulness is linked to better workplace functioning. Here are some key benefits of incorporating mindfulness into the work culture:

  1. Improved Focus and Productivity – Mindfulness in the workplace plays a role in maintaining concentration and one’s ability to focus. More specifically, meditation supports individuals in learning how to manage distractions. Employees often operate in an environment of constant interruptions and distractions including email, smartphones, social media, a 24-hour news cycle, along with multiple projects and deadlines. It’s important for staff members to develop the ability and skills to focus their attention where it’s needed most.
  2. Enhanced Creativity and Decision Making – According to a study highlighted in the Harvard Business Review, people are at their most creative as well as open to new ideas and solutions when they’re in a relaxed state. Mindfulness and meditation promote a sense of calm and focused attention which allows individuals to look at problems differently, using divergent thinking to consider a wide range of potential solutions and make thoughtful, rational decisions.   3. Improved Emotional Intelligence – Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability to recognize, understand and manage one’s emotions as well as empathize with the emotions of others. Self-awareness is the cornerstone of EI (we can’t understand our emotions if we are not self-aware) and is a key element of mindfulness. By exercising our attention and awareness through a regular mindfulness practice, we can actually train the brain to become more emotionally in tune — a critical skill for any leader. Furthermore, mindful employees are able to truly listen to each other, have empathy for their colleagues and clients and engage in respectful dialogue.
  4. Improved Resilience – Resilience is the process of effectively coping with adversity. Mindfulness enhances our ability to observe rather than react to upsetting events, situations and difficult feelings, allowing us to respond with greater clarity, wisdom and effectiveness. Mindfully Empowered offers “Introduction to Mindfulness” workshops and retreats (1 to 4 hours in length) as well as 4, 6 or 8 week “Lunch and Learn” series (1 hour per week) designed to support ongoing education, experience and practice in mindfulness.
